I’m Adrienne. I am always first, a reader. Life has a funny way about it, and in 2015 I started to pursue writing. Looking back, that feels very obvious, given my ability to bury my nose in a good book. They say the best writers are readers, thank God. I am in the process of editing my first novel now- where I also learned I love editing!- and I have another book beginning, as well as another in the back of my mind tingling with ideas. (Okay, I’ll be honest. I have a whole series worth of ideas!)
I am currently working on my first book with the working title CinderEvan- a modern fairy tale retelling.
Like most girls my age, growing up in the Disney-era, I have always loved fairy tales, and that hasn’t changed now that I’m an adult. Once Upon A Time and the resurgence of new versions of our favorite fairy tales in movies has only fanned the flames of my love for this style of story. In addition, I can easily get lost in mysteries, dramas, young adult novels, fantasy, etc! But first and foremost, I am a romantic.
I stay home with our children, ages 2, 4, and 6. When my oldest was a baby, I got lost in the world of parenting books and doing everything “right”, and I lost myself a little. A few years ago, my husband deployed and I spent my time redecorating my small duplex and watching every episode of Home Improvement with my boys. I wish I could go back and give myself a good book.
Something compelled me to pick up a novel again, and when I did it was like I found myself. I forgot how much I loved stories.
My Real Life
I am a true homebody. On any given day, you might find me homeschooling, sneaking off to do yoga, attempting to keep my house clean (Cinderella’s got my back on that one, right girl?) or obviously, curled up with a book and a cup of tea, often in the backyard where my children go play long enough for me to get some recovery me-time.
My brain often swirls with personality-related connections, including Myers Briggs, the Enneagram, habits, relationships, and any another type of quiz I can get my hands on. I love understanding the world and people around me through the lens of personality. I have a feeling some of that will land here.
For you nerds, I am an Enneagram 5 and an ENFP… until I question my sanity and wonder if I’m an INFP. You ENFPs know what I’m talking about. 😉
